Joseph’s Dividends: August

With several of my holdings showing no sign of recovery, and feeling inspired to be more selective with my choices, in August I made some large adjustments to my dividend portfolio.

In my M1 Finance account, I had one pie that was made up of several Global X ETF’s. They were higher yield, but as the ETF’s themselves didn’t seem to be as well established, they didn’t bounce back with the rest of the market over the summer. I decided to cut my losses on them and move the money to more reliable dividend earners.

The other major change I made was moving several REIT’s from Dividend Stocks pie to my REIT specific pie. It wasn’t a change that necessarily had to happen, but it’s one of those little things that makes my brain happier.

Now, on to the dividend earnings report!

Dividend Builder – August 2020

The dividends of August are a mild bunch. Not only are they mild, they are a small group too. My three monthly payers, Horizon Technology (HRZN), Realty Income (O), and Stag Industrial (STAG), made their regular appearance. Joseph’s Dividends: July

This will be short and sweet as I only have a few minutes while my newborn son is napping with his mother.

Joseph’s Dividends: June

While it’s not as exciting for me to write about, I realize I really should be sharing my journey with dividend investing more frequently. Recently, I did write a brief review of my experience so far with M1 Finance, but that was broad overview. I need to continue to live up to my title as Dividend Brother and share more of what I’ve been up to.

This first one post will be a little longer as I want to do a quick month-by-month recap of my dividend heavy IRA from its inception in April of 2018 until now. I’ll be honest, I don’t expect this to be extremely fascinating to anyone unless you get really jazzed about dividend income. Which, if you found your way to our blog I guess there a decent odds that this does do it for you. Ok, you’ve been warned . . . now let’s get granular!

Dividend Builder – May 2020

My Dividend Brother Joe and I put a pause on our posts as our neighborhood and world erupted after the killing of George Floyd. Joe and I live in a duplex in the 3rd Precinct of Minneapolis. We are blocks from the site of the killing and even closer to the overrun 3rd Precinct police station. This is a blog devoted to trading, investing, and building dividends in life. I won’t stray too far from that lane; however, my thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have been denied the opportunity to build the life of their dreams. My hope is for our Minneapolis community to heal, to right wrongs, and to treat all life as precious.
